No Huddle Life
I’ve always wanted to try indoor wall climbing. And thanks to Dave Hanson from Colorado Wilderness Rides & Guides and Movement Climbing + Fitness in Boulder, CO, I did just that!
I started the adventure so cavalier. Brimming with confidence. That’s until I got inside the facility and looked up at the walls. They were WAY higher than I had imagined they would be.
And I was the oldest person there. All the other climbers looked like they were straight out of ad in Outside Magazine or something. Perfect physiques.
My palms started sweating just taking in that vista. Somehow, probably because I had the film crew with me and I didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of my climbing coach, I got myself strapped in and went for it.
You’ll see for yourself. It’s not necessarily my best moment. But reaching the top of that indoor wall, even if not looking all that great doing it, was a big win for me.
That’s what NoHuddle Life is all about. Getting out of your comfort zone. Trying new, fun things. No matter what age you are or even if you’re not in the best of shape (within reason, of course).
I’m definitely adding indoor climbing to my list of favorite adventure activities. And maybe even someday, taking it outside to the legendary climbing areas of Boulder, CO. Honestly, I've got a ways to go before I do that. I’m working on getting my body to catch up to my adventurous spirit. Who’s with me?
